Reinfested.

Yep. Billy and I have bedbugs again. I noticed my first suspicious bite on August 1 and when on August 9 I saw two more, I called the super, even though I only had circumstantial evidence.

This is where I know my super and management company ROCK. No questions asked, he just went ahead and made an appointment for the exterminator to come in ASAP and told me he'd be contacting my neighbors above me and below me to have their places exterminated as well. And then he said he'd come in himself to caulk any cracks in the floors along the walls. All this after telling me that no one else had been reporting bedbugs in my building for quite some time.

Realizing that I could be overreacting, I was still grateful for the immediate and thorough response. It was only three bites, but it's better safe than sorry, and I wasn't about to let a potentially and relatively light infestation become something much worse without proof.

Well, I got my proof last night. In the form of a bedbug climbing up my bedroom wall just before I went to bed. I squashed it and saved it in a Ziploc bag and I am now even more grateful that the exterminator is coming tomorrow morning, 9am.

I can't believe I have to go through all this shit AGAIN. We bought large heavy duty trash bags to put our clothes and linens into since of course we can't get into the laundry room until tomorrow night. We'll be pulling the furniture out away from the walls before we go to sleep tonight and vacuuming all the floors, removing the vacuum bag into another sealed bag and going directly into the trash compactor. With luck, we'll get rid of the fuckers in one shot. I'm hoping there are only one or two of them in the apartment at this point, since I only got three bites in two weeks. I don't honestly care how many there are, so long as every last stinkin' one of them DIES.

Wow, Caitlin. I just saw this. Sorry it is happening again, but I am really glad they are handling it so well and so swiftly.

5 weeks ago, I discovered that i had bed bugs-- or shall i say, they discovered that they had me! I used a professional exterminator co in the Boston area. they did not see or find even one bed bug! i never saw a bed bug myself-- but apparently they saw and tasted me! as i had numerous welts and telltale bites daily!! The exterminator (i called them the "terminators") treated my home and then came a 2nd time 2 weeks later for a follow-up. Still no sight of bed bugs, but i was consistently being bitten every night! finally i purchased a metal bed for my guest room where i had been sleeping. I read that bed bugs cannot climb metal. WRONG!Those bed bugs continued to reach me and bite! i complained desparately to the manager of exterminating company. The boss's son came and did a thorough investigation. Still no detectable signs were found! It was like "Stump the Star."
Finally, i took the following steps and have been able to sleep thru the nite with NO bites:
1) i threw out my box springs and replaced them with slatted mattress supports from IKEA
2) i purchased mattress encasements
3) i placed the leg of each bed frame in a Pyrex glass container (4 cup measuring cup size). for the metal bed, i filled each glass container with rubbing alcohol. for the wooden bed, i wrapped double sided carpet tape around each leg and then placed each leg in a Pyrex glass container (4 cup measuring cup)
5) I take precaution Not to allow any of my bedding to touch the floor
6) I take precaution to be sure that the bed is not touching the walls

FINALLY I CAN SLEEP IN PEACE WITH NO BITES!!
try my approach. i wish you peace of mind!
"Are you smarter than a bed bug???" keep our fingers crossed!

It's interesting to read some of these entries and comments. Bed bugs are such a pain in the butt! With my new job, and traveling a lot internationally, I picked them up somewhere along the road! I went out online to purchase a bed bug cover. The ones that I found on
BedBugCover.com
are used in 5 star hotels so I assumed it would do the trick. The cover trapped the bed bugs in and I stopped getting bit. I did have the rest of my apartment sprayed in case.

I don't know if I have bed bugs, but I have been noticing tiny red dots on my arms recently. They aren't welts like I have seen in pictures, just tiny red dots. At first I thought nothing of it, but some of the dots are lined up in a row.

I've been searching for hours looking for signs of them. You don't realize how many places they can hide until you start looking.

My mattress and box spring are in protective cases, so I do not know where they are. I have a wood floor so maybe they are lodging under there.

I am going to try the bed posts in alcohol trick, along with double sided tape.
